I just got this filter today and so far I am impressed. It is my first 10 stop filter and it works just as I hoped it would. I was able to easily take 30 second exposures in the middle of the day running aperatures as low as f8.
I used it with a 2 stop graduated nd filter stacked. Very slight vignette at 11 mm on a tokina dx lens.
I even added a tiffen 3 stop filter to the other two. Heavy vignetting but i was able to take a 5 minute exposure at f8.
I have noticed it rattles a bit when you shake it but it threads on and off the lens easily. I had to remove it from a couple of the pictures with Lightroom.
I am quite impressed with this filter. Images came out sharp and contrasty, with virtually no vignetting even when used with my Tokina mm at 11mm.
Would definitely recommend for any hobbyist photographer! Mike Vande Ven Jr. Used this for the first time with some fog on a river.

Of course, being a 10x filter, focusing and framing has to happen with the filter off, then you put the filter on and hope you didn't bump anything.
That is a pain in the butt, but it is what it is. I have been shooting with this quite a bit lately.
If you shoot in live view with exposure simulation turned on, you can crank up the EV and see your scene. You can even focus pretty well with this.
I must remind folks to turn off image stabilization on their lens when using this. I forgot a few times, and my focused area was blurry.
Looking at my most recent photos, I don' t see any color cast at all. That orange that I mentioned was just from too much early sun hitting parts of the scene.
I have included a few photos I have taken with this filter on a Canon lens over the past few weeks. I finally found a ND filter that wont require you selling your kidney and some of your kids, in order to buy it.
After all, lets be frank, by the end of the day its just a dark piece of glass in a fancy box! I like the result with it and that's all I have to say.
Inexpensive and effective, what else you need to know? I waited until I was able to get a couple days and different situations use out of this before reviewing.
Have to say it's really good optically. Sharpness is still there and I'm impressed. It has very very little color cast if at all, which obviously can be fixed in post-processing if you're shooting raw.
I get no vignette at all, though I haven't gone as wide with it as others. The threads on it are good.
It goes on easily and just feels like it's quality made. As a side note I have seen people state here and elsewhere there is a strong purple color cast when used with this or other filters.
This can happen with any filter or lens and it's an easy fix, just cover your viewfinder. You can use just about anything to do it, just as long as light isn't beaming in.
Some camera straps have a little rubber cover to put over it, but I've even used a black microfiber towel to block out the light coming in. I've gone as far as a I am new to filters and decided to go big with this 10 stop filter.
I have to admit, pretty impressed. I've gone as far as a 30 second exposure in bright light with great results.
Since then I've played around with it trying to find the right exposure for the upcoming solar eclipse. It is our pleasure to provide you a mailbox customized to your needs.
